BALLAD OF THE FACTORY HEAD
2010
Forced from the head, out through the
mouth. Dispelling and dispensing. Three
of nine manifestations— with smoke,
with speech, with vomit, come
together. The combo evolves— man
sprouts a head in place of a head gone
bad. A FACTORY HEAD! New head emerges
from the start of work. When the maker
man enacts the circle of production—
rot is fixed, made neat, to hold its own
again. It is the Factory Head. Man is
concerned with material— making new
substance, making a repository, making a
model, making a story, making the world.
F-A-C-T-O-R-Y H-E-A-D! When work is
done for the doing, the bliss of
manufacturing. FACTORY HEAD! Fueled by
action and reaction— bandage and the
match, opening and closing wound,
striking and extinguishing flame;
healing and burning, bleeding and
warming. Inside the head little seed
pits ossify, link together with pools of
the primary glue, going round and round
the working self-- just like
putrefaction battery-powered gutterfat.
F-A-C-T-O-R-Y H-E-A-D! With this
Factory Head, man makes himself Again
and again.
